I have the honour to acknowledge the re-

ceipt of your Despatch No. 247 of the 14th. of August respect-

ing the grant of a bonus for good service to Dr. J. A. Lowson,

and to inform you that I accordingly recommended the Legisla-

tive Council to vote a sum of £500. This Vote after consider-

ation by the Finance Committee has been formally passed and I

shall be glad if you will cause the Crown Agents for the

Colonies to be instructed to pay over the amount in question

to Dr. Lowson.
